Whats going on with the Alumni Association?

Gregg Bishop

Interim President

Dear NYC Alumni,

On February 18, 2015, we held our first general body meeting this new year. I recognize we have a lot work to do over the next couple months to re-energize the chapter.

As the new Interim President, I wanted to share with you some highlights on how we will accomplish this task.

I have asked Lauren Grant to serve as the interim 1st VP. Lauren has the experience and skills needed to manage the operations of the chapter. In particular, Lauren will be spearheading our Distinguished Alumni Brunch scheduled for Saturday, June 6, 2015.

I've also asked RJ Allen to serve as the interim 2nd VP. I'm excited RJ will be planning our Annual Alumni Picnic scheduled for Saturday, July 25, 2015 and also help with rebuilding our membership.

I want to encourage you to reconnect with the association. Now more than ever, Florida A&M University needs the support of the alumni community. President Mangum has made it clear that recruiting the best minds across the nation to attend FAMU, raising much needed funds to upgrade facilities, and creating more internship opportunities, are her top priorities.

This is where you come in.

Giving back to our university is easy, and it starts with staying plugged in with our chapter. Whether it's volunteering at our table at a College Fair on March 21,2015, or supporting our future events. Your participation helps our chapter to achieve our mission to contribute to the success of FAMU.

I also want to hear from you on how we can improve your experience with the chapter. We are focused on expanding our presence online, including launching a new website in March. We have also reactivated our twitter account, and upgraded our email communications.

So follow us on Twitter at @FAMUNYCAlumni, and let us know how we're doing.

Looking forward to seeing you soon and hopefully you will consider becoming a member.

Sincerely,

Gregg Bishop
President
